She was "Heaven with a Gun" a notorious masked outlaw who grants hard-drinking journalist Jim Coyne a career making interview--if in exchange, the handsome Irish ex-boxer will agree to let her recover from a gunshot wound by masquerading as his wife.

Now the unexpected girl beneath the mask and the Irish brawler will risk everything for a passion as reckless and untamed as America's wild west.

This is a novella of approximately 25,000 words, which would be about 125 pages in a paperback book.

Heaven with a Gun edition by Connie Brockway Romance eBooks

I enjoyed Heaven With A Gun but it wrapped up too quickly for the material involved. The heroine's background was glossed over. I enjoyed the fresh take on a Robin Hood heroine. She's clever and resourceful and likeable. The hero, a reporter from the big city stuck in the West, was also likeable and interesting. The difficulty was that they didn't have much to do. I wasn't interested in the events with other townspeople. I would have preferred more interaction between the main characters or more of an advance through time. I didn't believe the extent to which each would overturn their lives based on the time they spent together. I could see his motivation, but not hers. It's a fun read with some clever tweaks. (I loved how she got her reputation.) I wanted her to be a little less insecure and I wanted him to be smarter. When the problem with a story is wanting more of all of it, it's hard to pinpoint what's wrong. Everything was great and then it was over. I wanted more of the events leading to the final pages. The ending felt rushed.

Heaven with a Gun edition by Connie Brockway Romance eBooks Reviews

I thought this was a perfect short read. I had a rough day at work and downloaded this -- it made me laugh and it's just the right length. Loved it!
I would have given it more if I wasn't afraid that it glorified guns. The "wil d west" did not use many guns, especially little handguns.
Not a bad book. Book story line fair. I think this book started off good then dropped the ball for awhile.
I alternately read westerns and Regency. I think I caught this one at a low point in my interest level, and I am probably not being completely fair tot this author in my hindsight feeling about the work. I would like to read another Brockaway to see how I really should feel about the author. FB
I'm a huge Connie Brockway fan and she is an auto-buy for me. This novella did not disappoint. The gorgeous ex-boxer of a hero and a sassy heroine reminded me a bit of "The Quiet Man." If you enjoy this novella, I highly recommend Brockway's "A Dangerous Man" which combines the Old West and England in a fantastic way. One of my favorite romance novels.
Heaven With a Gun

I find it uncanny that Connie can write about so many different spheres of the world. Honestly, Scotland to Texas.
This romantic yarn was exciting with a complete change of direction.
I love the way Connie brings together in drips and drabs a romantic interlude, that slowly emerges and bursts into a dazzling of full blown love, and then descends into sizzling sex.
First of all, I will admit there were a few mistakes in my reading with the . 1 for I and the like, as well as the hero's age changing. All of these, I imagine, will change and be edited to enhance an already engaging and fun story. I am not faulting the story for that.

I loved this story of a gunslinging (but really, an exceptionally clever and resourceful) woman and a retired boxer, now fighting journalist who meet up in an old western Texan town where they fall in love. This is a very short story, but I only felt its shortness at the end (which was a bit quick for me). I wanted to see more and felt the ending was very quickly resolved.
I loved the interaction between the two characters. I loved reading about a man who was respectful to women, even if it was slowly killing him. I loved the woman who could make a fool of any man around her, and curb others to her favor.

I can't say too much without giving the story away (it is a novella), but I loved it from the very beginning with the description of the endless Texas sky through the setup (in the description) to the sweet/movie-esque ending.

I wanted to read another novella by Connie Brockway.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes fun western romances, like those depicted in Maverick (movie), Romancing the Stone's Jesse, and Teresa Medeiros's Nobody's Darling.
